James “Jim” R. Senior is a Pittsburgh-based artist who works primarily in acrylic paint with a focus on landscapes and other interesting subjects from his travels and photography. He discovered his passion for art at an early age, studying at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in the early 70s then continuing with a professional career in exhibit design for the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, where he retired as the Chairman of Exhibits in 2007.
Shortly after retirement, Jim was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease which caused a tremor in his dominant right hand impacting his ability to paint. Because of his love for painting, he taught himself to use his left hand, shifting from detailed watercolors to larger, bolder acrylic paintings.
Jim resides in Sewickley, PA with his wife, Dodie, where he continues to paint, photograph, and build models in his free time.
